Dove’s first ever
Mascot - Bardy

My design for Bardy - Dove’s first ever Mascot - is based around the iconic shape of the Dove Beauty bar. Combined with bird features taken from the brand logo to make a unique character.

I developed many mockups of the mascot character until we landed on the oval bar as base structure. Gently adjusted certain areas to bring out the unique and loveable character that is Bardy. These subtle adjustments bring warmth and personality that are befitting of her character profile and the role she plays for the brand.

Who is Bardy

Bardy will become one of the Dove Masterbrand and the Body Confident Sport programme’s most useful assets.
The Bardy character spans a vast number of topics, tones and cultural touch points. This means that she needed to have a depth of emotional intelligence so that consumers can connect and interact both with Bard and with the brand. Our unique character has delivered on this.
During our exploration we based the design around the Beauty Bar shape itself. This changed the tone of the character from being empathetic with real personality that can talk to girls about staying in sport, to something that is much less sympathetic and endearing.
The tone of Bardy also becomes the only the tone of the Beauty Bar, which leads us to more of a  product conversation than one to do with body confidence.

Bardy represents the joy, optimism and care that makes Dove special.

Bardy is a playful champion of positivity – in sport, in culture, and of course, in beauty. Nobody is more positive than Bardy. They are a cheerleader for the confidence of girls and women in every situation, both throughout sport and life.
